Happy Dancing

Anyone who wants to happy dance with me over finishing a picture book manuscript that I'm excited about can start dancing . . .

. . . NOW!                                   Happy Dancing Pictures, Images and Photos

This picture book has actually had a title (which I think I'll keep to myself just a bit longer) for about five years, and I've written two or three other stories with different characters and story lines, stories that made me say, "Meh." I'm excited to revise this one into something I can query or submit. So I'm giving myself a September 21st deadline to complete Shelley's dare. After all, that's technically the end of summer, right?

Because I have this other manuscript (still under 90,000 words) that I'm working on until Wednesday.

What are you excited about right now?

  1. Just now, it's not a writing project that has me excited. It's getting all my kids together for Labor Day!

  2. Congratulations! I too am excited about a writing project. I hoped to have it finished by the end of August, couldn't do that because of the summer doldrums. What a difference a small cool front can do!

  3. Woohoo, woohoo, woohoo! That's fantastic, Myrna! And what exactly is this Wednesday deadline?

  4. Ooo, I'll happy dance with you. That's great news.

  5. That's very exciting, Sue!

Thanks, Catherine! I'm glad you're experiencing a cool front. I'm always excited for fall this time of year.

Krista, I have a CP who needs it by September 1st (a couple of weeks before her classes start).

    Thanks, Holly!

  6. Love the happy dance. Made me smile. Congrats on finishing your book! :)
Right now, I'm just happy that I ran 7.5 miles in the heat without dying.

  7. I'll do the happy dance with you and give my extension until the 21st too..... I've completed two manuscripts and have them ready to take to a conference (to see if they are completed LOL.).

  8. Great job, Myrna. Chill a bit and celebrate. I've given myself a month off after finishing the first draft of my wip. Right now I'm excited about my son doing his algebra homework without being asked. Amazing!

  9. I am excited that it's the weekend!!! (I never seem to appreciate the weekend until school/work starts up again.)

Yay for your writing!!! I am happy dancing for you.

  10. WAHOO! Totally happy dancing with you right now. Congratulations on completing your manuscript :) I am excited to get back to my novel.

  11. Woo hoo. And I love the Laurel and Hardy animation. I haven't seen those two in a while.

  12. Rorie, you're amazing. I hardly ever run in the summer here.

That's great, Sharon! Good luck with your conference!

Thanks, Shellie, but I'm just switching to my novel for a bit.

Weekends are exciting, Shelley. Thanks for the dare and for dancing with me. ;)

    Thanks, Al!

Which novel are you getting back to, Julie? Thanks!

Thanks, Medeia! I'm glad you liked it too.

  13. Hooray!! Love the dancers! I am excited about the cooler weather...and the anticipation of Fall!

    Have a lovely day!

  14. I'm excited for fall too, Em. Thanks you!

  15. I'm excited that I'm rocking and rolling on my next two WIPs. The words are flyinf off my fingertips. Getting stuff done. Developing some really cool fight scenes and some twists and turns that the reader will not expect. Thanks for asking.

  16. Good luck finishing Shelley's challenge. I killed that thing. :)

  17. I'm excited that school has started. I actually got a nap today! Although, the craziness will start when the kiddos get home!

  18. Ooh. I'll have to check out Shelley's post. I've been away too long. :) Thanks for the heads up!

  19. Congrats on finishing! And good luck with the submissions! :)

  20. That's great, Stephen! Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks, Elana!

I know, Wick. I dread after school craziness. I'm glad you got a nap though.

You're welcome, Kristin, but it wasn't a post. She e-mailed out a bunch of dares at the beginning of summer. She dared me to either write a picture book or start a novel in verse. I told her I'd take the picture book and up the stakes by submitting or querying it. I shouldn't have raised the stakes.

    Thanks, Susan!

  21. I love the little dancing guys and yes I'll dance with you. I've got reason to too, just finished the first draft of my latest novel and thinking it's in pretty good shape.

If you're interested, you can read ch 1 of my YA fantasy novel, 'Lethal Inheritance’ at
I’d love to know what you think of it.
