To celebrate the fact that I wrote (finished drafts of) TWO shiny picture books in December, I'm giving away three picture books I'm loving at the moment (plus a paperback).
If you already own one or more of these, I might be willing to make substitutions, BUT you only have until the end of Wednesday, January 4th, to enter. This one isn't international. I'm sorry, but the shipping for that many hardbacks would be painful. To enter, tell me one of your favorite picture books. That is all.
I love all of Shelley Moore Thomas's GOOD KNIGHT books, but I just gave A COLD WINTER'S GOOD KNIGHT to my four-year-old for Christmas. I've been reading it a lot. However, it isn't the first book in the series, not that it matters if you read them out of order. If you'd like to see the first book, though, here's a video of the author reading it.
Okay, I'll include a paperback of GOOD NIGHT, GOOD KNIGHT in the giveaway.
You're welcome. :o)
HOP! PLOP! is Corey Rosen Schwartz's first picture book, but I'm already looking forward to her second, THE THREE NINJA PIGS, coming out later this year.
LEONARDO THE TERRIBLE MONSTER, by Mo Willems, has been around for a while, but it's such a great one. I'm using it in my classes, later this week.

We've been on a Dr. Seuss kick lately. My kids love HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, and we just checked GREEN EGGS AND HAM out from the library, which was the first Dr. Seuss book I remember reading as a kid.
ReplyDeleteMy kids and I also love SKIPPYJONJONES (although I still haven't checked out any of the sequels).
Thanks for the giveaway, Myrna!
Just one? Oh, there are so many...I love any of Dr. Seuss' books. I also love Sandra Boynton's books. "G is for One Gzonk" is funny. And of course, there's "I Ain't Gonna Paint No More" that you introduced us to and we all love.
ReplyDeleteSee, I could go on and on, but you did say just one, so I'll stop now. :)
These all look like winners to me!
ReplyDelete=)
I'm looking forward to THREE NINJA PIGS too!
ReplyDeleteGreat contest, Myrna! I love picture books. How could I possibly decide which one is my favorite?
Ah, I'll have to go with an oldie: A House is a House for Me. It's such a great read-aloud.
Oh, wonderful! I love Leonardo. We've borrowed it from our library a whole bunch of times, but don't own it. Mo Willems is one of my favorite pb writers!
ReplyDeleteHmmm ... So many picture books to choose a favorite from! I think my current fav is HURRY AND THE MONARCH. I just borrowed it from the library a couple months ago and had trouble taking it back. :)
Thanks for the fun giveaway, Myrna!
Oh, pick me! Pick me! There are so many great picture books, but as a child and still today, one of my very favorites was THE JOLLY POSTMAN. Fairy-tales and mail. Does it get any more magical?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I love this :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am going to choose the most recent! My mother has started giving me my old favourite picture books for Christmas, since our old ones have long since been damaged or lost. This year it was Corduroy, by Don Freeman. I adored this when I was a kid, and it's lost none of the magic for me now. Simply a story of finding a home, it always made me feel safe and secure.
And buttons! Who doesn't love buttons?
