One of my friends borrowed CATCHING FIRE from one of their friends for me a couple of days ago. Suzanne Collins definitely wrote another page turner, but I can wait to finish the series.
I agree with you that the first one was better--this one definitely felt like a bridge, Act II, what have you--but I am anxious to see how it all ends. I'm guessing uncomfortably. But we'll see.
When I reached that turning point in CATCHING FIRE, I couldn't decide if it was a brilliant plot move (since I in no way saw it coming) - or a cop-out.
I think the third book will be more like what I was expecting from the second.
As for Gale or Peeta, tough call. They're both so great, but in different ways.
I guess I need to try and read The Hunger Games, I've heard a lot of good things about it. Oh, by the way, the pictures on our Christmas card were taken by Natalie!!

ReplyDeleteI did, too.
ReplyDeleteGale or Peeta?
I agree. I liked the first beter... but only because the decisions of the characters made me so mad in the 2nd. Why compete at all?!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read them yet....lame, huh? Waiting for paperback.

Yes, and I think we're going to see a lot more of Gale in the next book.
ReplyDeleteQ, I'm leaning more towards Gale, but that doesn't mean I want something horrible to happen to "the boy with the bread."
Does anyone else think Peeta is a funny name when you pair it with bread the way she has? Pita bread. Maybe I'm just weird that way.
