Catching Fire vs. The Hunger Games

One of my friends borrowed CATCHING FIRE  from one of their friends for me a couple of days ago.  Suzanne Collins definitely wrote another page turner, but I can wait to finish the series.

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)

I liked the first one better.

  1. I agree with you that the first one was better--this one definitely felt like a bridge, Act II, what have you--but I am anxious to see how it all ends. I'm guessing uncomfortably. But we'll see.

  2. I agree. I liked the first beter... but only because the decisions of the characters made me so mad in the 2nd. Why compete at all?!

  4. When I reached that turning point in CATCHING FIRE, I couldn't decide if it was a brilliant plot move (since I in no way saw it coming) - or a cop-out.

I think the third book will be more like what I was expecting from the second.

As for Gale or Peeta, tough call. They're both so great, but in different ways.

  5. Yes, and I think we're going to see a lot more of Gale in the next book.

Q, I'm leaning more towards Gale, but that doesn't mean I want something horrible to happen to "the boy with the bread."

Does anyone else think Peeta is a funny name when you pair it with bread the way she has? Pita bread. Maybe I'm just weird that way.

  6. I guess I need to try and read The Hunger Games, I've heard a lot of good things about it. Oh, by the way, the pictures on our Christmas card were taken by Natalie!!
