Peter and the Sword of Mercy

I won PETER AND THE SWORD OF MERCY through a contest Adam Heine threw in April when Beneath Ceaseless Skies published his short story, PAWN'S GAMBIT. He let me pick out any book I wanted, and I'd been wanting to get my hands on this one; I loved the first three enough to buy them. He also surprised me by throwing in a pre-order of MOCKINGJAY (because he's cool like that). Thanks, Adam!

This is the fourth book in a series, so here are the first three:

I was surprised when I found out there was a fourth book in this series. The third book wrapped up most of the loose ends. But the first three were so great that I had to read the fourth, and it didn't disappoint. The cover was just as visually stunning, the story just as gripping, scary and humorous.

It starts off with a short prologue told from Charlemagne's point of view that shows us why how the sword in the title earned it's name. I love history and sword fighting, so this hooked me. Then it picks up the story from the first three books, only quite a few years later on. This worried me, initially (because I've read series where it's hard to connect with the older characters and the new generation), but it worked in this series. The characters' personalities transcended age (though this wasn't an issue with Peter), and the villain, if anything, scared me more than he did in the earlier books.

If you liked Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, you'll like this series.

I tried something new, signing up for Amazon Associates and using it to create my links. They work better as links, were easier to create, and provide more information about the books, but I wish the pictures were bigger. What do you think?

Wasn't that a great surprise, Krista? And, yes, these books are superb, or I wouldn't be recommending them.
