A Contest and a Conference

Carolina Valdez Miller extended her fabulous contest through August 15th, but you don't want to go over there. She's only giving away seven, SEVEN ARCs. ;o)

Also, if you're a writer and you haven't heard of Write On Con, you should check it out. It's free, and you don't even have to leave your home to interact with other writers, agents, editors, and illustrators. I'm registered as Myrna Foster in the WriteOnCon forums, if you want to add me as a friend. I'll be hanging out over there this week, but next week, prepare yourselves for a long overdue writing update (and no, that doesn't mean I have a contract or an agent to tell you about). I haven't had anything exciting to share since May.

  1. I don't write children's literature, other than a few poems, but that WriteOnCon site is amazing! What a great idea...

    =)

  5. Speaking of which, I'm critiquing your first five pages right now and it's getting a bit...long. That's not a bad thing! If it wasn't long, it would mean it wasn't worth the time to make it long. Long means it has fabulous potential and deserves a detailed review.

Do you mind if I PM you with the extended version of the critique? I feel kind of weird being so lengthy in public. I could also email you, if you prefer.

And if my critique clicks with how you think, could I read/critique your whole story? I very much like it so far and would love to read the whole thing.

  6. Thanks, everyone!

Yes, Q, please e-mail me or whatever. And I would love for you to critique the story. I'm in the middle of a hefty revision though, and I'd rather give you the revised pages in a couple of weeks. Is that okay?

  7. Okay, I'm going to post my overarching thoughts now and email you the nitpicky stuff in a bit.
